This is video two of the Frost Gate Mission. As I mentioned in the previous videos, you can acutally just "run" through this area to the next stage of the game, but the storyline has the Ascalonian refugees taking a "low road" through the mountains from Borlis Pass. Your job is to take the "high road" and clear out the Iron Summit balistae that would devastate the Ascalon Caravan. The second part of the mission is seizing control of the Frost Gate, a massive door that closes off the passage to Beacon's Perch. Instead of taking the "non-gated" path. Too be fair, I can make this part of the story work. The normal run from Yak's Bend to Beacon's Perch is completely overrun in the Southern Part by centaurs. The main road runs right through an occupied Dwarven village. Oh, and there's a bonus mission as usual; Rornak Stonesledge has once again been caught spying, and once again the Iron Summit are building WMD's that only Stonesledge can find. And to top it all off, the whole reason we're DOING this is removed at the end of the mission.

This is the final "mission" in the Northern Shiverpeaks, as the last stage of the entry to Kryta is actually a Primary Quest rather than a mission. When you're new to the game, this can also be a tough experience. There are several places where you can accidentally pull multiple mobs that can get out of hand. Also, like the Iron Horse Mine, you will run into several groups of Iron Summit on Dolyaks, which are powerful healers. If you get in a loop where the Dolyak Riders and stack heals, you're going to have to get rid of one of them, fast.

This is the middle stage of the Ascalonian journey to Kryta, which lies on the other side of the mountains. It *is* possible to run continuously from Ascalon City to Lion's Arch, the Krytan capital and one of the main cities of the game but for the story's sake we'll do the three Northern Shiverpeak missions that will carry us to Kryta.

From this point in the game, questing drops off significantly. Most of the side-quests are used to get you to explore the game world, large sections of which you could skip right over. You can also get a significant portion of your skills via side-quests, rather than buying them from skill trainers. Once you get to Lion's Arch which is the area that many players reach level 20 in the skill capture mechanic is taught through questing, as well.

The Northern Shiverpeaks bridge Ascalon and Kryta or separate it, as you will. This is the domain of the Deldrimor Dwarves and their off-shoot, isolationist brothers the Stone Summit Dwarves. The Stone Summit are supposedly a small cult of xenophobic Dwarves who seek to displace the Deldrimor leadership and seal off the mountains from all other species. In game terms, though, the Stone Summit FAR outnumber the Deldrimor Dwarves. They're everywhere in the Northern Shiverpeaks, while you'll only encounter a couple dozen Deldrimors. In addition, they're a step up in difficulty from the Charr mobs you've been fighting, so be ready. But the biggest problem, as I mentioned although it\'s FAR worse in the Southern Shiverpeaks is that the Stone Summit are EVERYWHERE. You can't throw a stone without drawing aggro around here.

I've set the game's resolution back to 1680x1050. I run without vertical sync then resize to 1152x720. We'll see how it comes out.

The videos are then compressed using AVC's h.264 codec for video and ccitt u-law for audio. When I remember to click through the settings properly. I'm not currently adjusting the light levels or gamma, it seems ok. After compression the videos are uploaded.

This is a huge session split into fifteen-minute chunks, there are also several recording errors and some skips.
